Hands on STEM in the Classroom
This winter students will expand their science knowledge through fun hands on activities. Students will practice the scientific method, technical writing, research methods, and develop good team member skills. Learning through doing is a way for students to use inquiry to discover the answers to problems and challenges, by taking the time to stop, evaluate their results, look at what is working or not working and determine if changes are necessary.
This winter Kindergarten will be working with shapes, colors, and conservation. First grade will discover how the heart works, explore flight and how plants grow. Second grade will work in teams to complete engineering challenges. In third grade students will work on the properties of our solar system and ecology. The fourth grade will use engineering and fairy tales to solve puzzles. The scientific method and new discoveries will be the focus of fifth grade. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade will explore Engineering
of superhero lairs. How ice cream is made and even the zombie apocalypse.
